The International Energy Agency's Global EV Outlook 2026 highlights continued strong growth in the global electric vehicle market. More than 21 million electric cars were sold worldwide in 2025, and sales are expected to reach approximately 23 million in 2026, representing around 28% of all new car sales globally.
Europe is projected to become the fastest-growing major EV market in 2026, with electric vehicle sales expected to increase by around 20%. In the European market, roughly one in three new cars sold this year is expected to be electric, supported by expanding charging infrastructure and broader model availability.
The report also notes that battery prices continue to decline while manufacturers introduce more electric vehicle models across different price segments. These trends are making EVs increasingly accessible to both private buyers and commercial fleets, supporting further market expansion.
For charging infrastructure providers, the outlook confirms that sustained growth in EV adoption will continue driving demand for reliable, high-performance public charging networks across Europe and beyond.
